Unique Designer Homewares – Bamboo Plant Hangers

When we first came across a bamboo plant hanger whilst on holidays last year, we just knew that we had to bring these home to share with you. Our hangers are individually hand crafted by talented artisans and they are the perfect finishing touch for living spaces in contemporary modern australian homes.

Add a devils ivy for a pop of green and sit back and watch the greenery wind its way up through the bamboo links. A wispy fern would also look great in this style of hanger.

Our hangers suit a large room where there is a light source from a window nearby, that is if you are intending on using a real plant in a pot of course! An artificial plant would also look lovely in the hanger for those who are not interested in maintaining plants. Personally I’m a big fan of indoor plants so you will only find living plants in my hanger – my favorite is the variegated devils ivy.

It’s difficult to get a true understanding of the scale of our bamboo hangers until you are actually in a room looking at one. Our large hangers are quite impressive in scale and act as a real feature in any room. The distance from the top bamboo link to the bottom of the hanger is approx 1.65 metres in height (overall length without the rope attached). Just be mindful that each hanger is hand crafted, therefore the dimensions may vary slightly between each hanger.

Our large hangers are perfect for homes with high ceilings – think skillion roofs, gable roofs or architecturally designed custom homes. Our smaller hangers fit the same size pots but they are smaller overall in length and are more suited to standard ceiling heights. Our bamboo plant hangers all come with long lengths of sisal rope to suit any height ceilings. The 20mm thick sisal rope has been hand spliced to the top bamboo link and we also include a fitting for the ceiling attachment with each hanger. When your hanger arrives, all that you will need to do is cut the rope to length and use a standard screwdriver to attach the rope to the fitting (refer to installation instructions).

To complement your home decor we have also introduced a range of pot plant covers in Australian Designer Kirsten Katz’s prints. Our pot covers are available in four (4) different prints and as the seasons and interior colour scheme trends change we will introduce new covers. We will always have a neutral tone cover available for those who are not as adventurous with colour. Pot covers don’t have a waterproof layer so you will need to use a plastic bag inside the cover to avoid water seeping through to the bamboo (freezer bags or sandwich bags work well).

It’s always a good idea to add small amounts of water to your plant at a time to avoid yellowing of leaves from over watering and water seeping through to the bamboo. I find that during the warmer months of the year, I just put a very small amount of water into the pot a few times and week and that’s more than enough for a devils ivy. In the cooler months, watering once a week is generally all that is needed.
