CARE INSTRUCTIONS

For instructions on how to care for your products, please read the following:

Bamboo Plant Hangers (LUXE or CLASSIC)

Bamboo Hangers are for indoor use only. Care needs to be taken to protect the inside of the hangers from dampness and water spills when watering plants.

Our Ivy Sands Pot Plant Covers work perfectly in our bamboo plant hangers – these covers have been custom made to suit our hanger measurements.

Important Note: To protect the bamboo and the fabric pot plant cover from stains, you must place a plastic bag inside the pot plant cover to trap any excess water. The plastic bag is required to protect your hanger from moisture – a freezer bag or sandwich bags work well and are not noticeable inside our pot plant covers.

Your bamboo hanger is easy to care for and only requires a light dusting with a soft feather duster (or similar) to remove visible dust from building up.  

Fabric Pot Plant Covers

Our Ivy Sands fabric pot plant covers, with hessian inside layer, can be hand washed in cool water with like colours. We do not recommend soaking. Line dry only –  DO NOT tumble dry.

Indian Block Print Sarongs

Block print sarongs should be washed on their own before first use. Care should be taken not to catch the lightweight 100% cotton fabric on sharp objects. Wash in cold water only with similar colours and line dry.  DO NOT tumble dry.

Turkish Towels

Turkish Towels are 100% cotton and should be washed on their own before first use. Wash in cold water only with similar colours and line dry.  DO NOT tumble dry and DO NOT use fabric softener on Turkish Towels. Our cotton Turkish Towels will soften naturally with each wash.

We DO NOT refund for change of mind. Please refer to our Refunds / Returns Policy located on the bottom right of the home page.

Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, you can expect some variation in colour, print, pattern and finish of each individual product.

All care is taken to upload good quality photographs that closely resemble the product you will receive.

Our LUXE bamboo hangers really do take over as a feature in a room. If you are looking for a unique standout feature and you love indoor plants than we would totally recommend hanging one of these beauties in the corner of a large living space. Be mindful that they are impressive in scale. We recommend getting a tape measure out to work out exactly how low the hanger would sit. If you have a cluttered space with a standard ceiling height, than I would opt for the CLASSIC bamboo hanger which is shorter in length. I guess it’s all up to individual taste and style! Don’t forget to add one of our custom size pot plant covers to complete the look.

When you purchase one of our Ivy Sands designer bamboo hangers, we include approximately 2 metres of thick sisal rope attached to the top bamboo link.

We opted to use 20mm sisal rope due to its strength and also the fact that the blonde tone of the sisal rope complements the bamboo perfectly. 

The rope has been hand spliced here in Australia to complete the designer look for you.  We also include a steel custom made rope hanger hook that needs to be attached to the end of the rope once you have decided what height from the ceiling you would like your hanger.

See instructions below on how to install the hanger ceiling fitting. 

Please follow these instructions to ensure that the rope is fixed into the end of the hook coupling correctly prior to hanging.

Step 1.

Measure the rope to suit the desired hanging length.

Step 2. 

Place tape (electrical tape or similar) around the rope where you intend to make the cut.  Then carefully cut the rope, making sure you leave the tape on to make it easier to push the rope into the ceiling fitting.

Step 3.

Next you will need a phillips head screw driver. Carefully remove the screw from the ceiling hanger fitting that came with your hanger. 

Step 4.

Now you need to firmly but carefully push the cut and taped end of the rope into the fitting. It will be a tight fit, so may need to be nudged in with a bit of force. You need to ensure that the rope goes right into the very end of the fitting. 

Step 5.

Insert the screw into the hanger and secure firmly, tightening the screw all the way in as shown in image below.  It is important that you have completed Step 4 above correctly before you tighten the screw (rope needs to be inserted fully).  

Step 6.

Now it’s time to test that the rope has been secured correctly. Hold your hanger up by the ceiling fitting and test that the rope is holding firmly in place. Take care not to let the hanger drop and hit the ground or hit against any objects during the test – you don’t want to damage or mark your new hanger. Ask someone to help you with this step to avoid any damage.

Step 7.

You will need to visit your nearest hardware store to purchase a suitable ceiling hook. The approx weight of your hanger is 2.6kg but remember to also allow for a pot and plant.  There are many different types of hooks available. We suggest that you speak to your hardware store for advice on what fitting would best suit your requirements. Or alternatively, you can employ the services of a professional handyman or tradesperson to assist you with installing your bamboo hanger.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE:

Our hangers only weigh approximately 2.6kg each (without a pot or plant), so they are not very heavy, however, it is very important to remember that adding a plant and pot will increase the weight. Care must be taken to install the hanger correctly to avoid any potential injuries.

DO NOT allow children or any person to swing on, or pull at the hanger. Excessive force by putting additional weight or pressure on the hanger may cause the fitting to dislodge from the ceiling and cause injury.

We recommend using a handyman or trades professional to install your hanger.

We think that the best plant for our gorgeous bamboo hangers is a plant that you can trail up through the loops. When we first laid eyes on one of these amazing hangers, we instantly imagined a devils ivy winding up through the bamboo links.

The swiss cheese plant is another favourite and looks amazing in the hangers also. You will need a plant that grows easily indoors, doesn’t require a big pot and requires minimal maintenance. Small soft ferns would also look great if you are looking to create more of a whimsy feel!

Yes, that’s right they are 100% soft Turkish hand loomed cotton,direct from Turkish villages.The majority of our towels are organic cotton.

Block print refers to the process of creating patterns on fabric. Stamps in various patterns and shapes are dipped in dye and then hand stamped onto 100% soft cotton muslin fabric. Yes that’s right, every pattern has been hand stamped by someone. When you purchase one of our Indian Block Print Sarongs, expect to see some little imperfections in the print and pattern and embrace the uniqueness that is traditional block printing.

We love the look of our Aztec range of Turkish Towels hanging in modern bathrooms – those fringed edges and washed out colours are right on trend at the moment.

Be mindful though, if you haven’t owned a Turkish Towel before you will likely be shocked at the fact they are not your typical thick terry towelling style of towel. Turkish Towels are much more lightweight compared to standard towels. This means that they don’t take up much room for storage, but it also means that they are not as absorbent, which can take some getting used to as a bath towel.

If you live in a warm tropical climate, this style of towel would be perfect to use in the bathroom during the summer months as they dry much faster than a standard towel. From a personal point of view, we would probably stick to using standard terry style towels in bathroom during the cooler months of the year –  however, I’m sure there will be many Turkish Towel lovers who may disagree with us!

We think our Turkish Towels are more suited for sunny beach days and for around your swimming pool at home!
